Breaking New Grounds: PrimaCell’s Dynamic Expansion in Terengganu

Prima Cell aims to become a leading network facilities provider, delivering exceptional service quality to all telecommunication operators in Malaysia. Previously, Prima Cell successfully established seven telecommunication infrastructures down south across Johor, serving major Mobile Network Operators (TELCOs) such as Maxis, Celcom Berhad , CelcomDigi , and U Mobile.

Since early 2023, we have been engaged with Terengganu Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (TCOMM), the One Stop Agency appointed by TERENGGANU INC, before PrimaCell being officially appointed as the Terengganu State Deployment Partner (DP) on December 24, 2023. This appointment piqued TELCOs' interest in expanding their operations with PrimaCell in Terengganu.

In the first half of 2024, PrimaCell secured sites to be developed under the CelcomDigi Phase 1 & Phase 2 2024 New Sites Rollouts. We aim to secure additional site contracts in the second half of the year with other TELCOs and co-location sites.

Currently PrimaCell have completed the construction stages for two sites at Kg Bukit Kenak and Jalan Gong Manok, both in Besut, Terengganu. Construction for three additional sites in Marang, Kuala Nerus, and Kemaman is underway, with completion expected by the end of June 2024. The remaining four sites in Kemaman are pending approval, with expected delivery in July 2024.

Notably, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Terengganu recognizing PrimaCell’s expertise, sought our team’s assistance to address a critical site with numerous connectivity complaints in Kampung Gong Tengah, Besut, Terengganu. Once addressed, this site will be able to connect the surrounding area, including the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Gong Kedak base.

PrimaCell’s strategic expansion into Terengganu is proving successful, with ongoing and prospective projects highlighting our growth. Our future ambitions extend beyond this stage as we are now seeking an additional license from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission as a Network Services Provider (NSP). This proposal is a platform to venture into larger markets, from bandwidth management to the end user. Additionally, PrimaCell is exploring opportunities to own a landing point for connecting Malaysia with international underwater subsea cables and penetrating the fiber cable business. These efforts are crucial groundwork for participating in the national Jendela network connectivity deployment, which is anticipated to open soon.

We look forward to continuing our work with TELCOs and bringing superior connectivity not just to the East Coast region, but nationwide as #WeAreTheXPERTS. Explore more at primacell.com.my and discover collaborative opportunities for the future of Malaysia's telecommunications.
