Hydro Xperts takes over the rehabilitation project of the mini-hydropower plant at Sg.Brooke, offering both a challenge and an opportunity that beckons us to a greener future.
Yet, before delving into this compelling journey, let's demystify the world of hydropower plants. Sg.Brooke plant lies a "run-of-river" hydro system. This innovative approach harnesses the natural flow of the Sg. Brooke River to generate electricity. By diverting a portion of the river's flow, we set a turbine into motion. The turbine's rotation, in turn, drives an electromagnet generator, producing the precious electricity that powers our lives. This electricity is then channeled through Tenaga Nasional Berhad to illuminate homes and businesses across the grid.
Imagine the dance of energy – from river to turbine to electricity – a process that operates under an existing concession agreement with Tenaga Nasional Berhad for the next 15 years and potentially beyond, creating a sustainable and impactful legacy. Thank you to The Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia), Energy Commission of Malaysia, as well as Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for the platform to help local SME champion this National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), under Dasar Tenaga Negara.
The future ahead is promising - as we aim to rehab the underperforming and amplify our current 6MW output to an impressive 10MW. However, this journey isn't solitary. Partnering with Malaysia’s mini-hydropower pioneers (sent for training during (LLN) Lembaga Letrik Malaysia days), the stalwart in the hydropower domain stands by our side. With their expertise and consultation, we are charting a two-year course to reach an 8MW output achievement and to 10MW in the next three years; ensuring both energy generation and the enduring success of our venture.
