Celebrating World Go Skateboarding Day with a Visionary Leap Forward! 🛹
On June 21, in conjunction with World Go Skateboarding Day, Yayasan WIBA Prima (YWP) proudly unveiled Skate Bowl Langkawi (SB LGK) in Kedawang, Kedah Darul Aman. This groundbreaking initiative, founded by the ambitious Amirul Johan Mannan in 2021, brings to life a vision of empowering the youth in Langkawi through the transformative power of skateboarding.
With the strong support of Yayasan WIBA Prima, as well as Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), and a successful crowdfunding campaign, Skate Bowl Langkawi now stands tall as a beacon of community spirit and a testament to the positive impact of skateboarding. It’s more than just a skate park—it's a hub of inspiration, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.
The grand launch of this inspiring project was graced by the presence of Datuk Dr. Kamilia Ibrahim, Chairman of Yayasan WIBA Prima. Skate Bowl Langkawi not only provides a safe and welcoming space for skateboard enthusiasts but also hosts a variety of events and workshops that resonate with the community's vibrancy. From the SB Bowl Jam in June 2022 to Art X Skate in December 2022, the park has quickly become a cornerstone of local culture.
This August, Skate Bowl Langkawi is set to elevate its mission with the Kita Kitar event, focusing on sustainability and eco-consciousness. By harnessing natural water resources, the initiative will build three natural pond filters, tanks for water harvesting, and systems for nurturing hydroponic plants. This innovative electric hydro project embodies the true spirit of #WeAreTheXPERTS, championing environmental stewardship alongside the thrill of skateboarding.
The potential for SB LGK to pioneer positive change for the younger generation is immense. It could very well be the launchpad for grooming future Olympic skateboarders from Malaysia! With the continued support of Yayasan WIBA Prima, Skate Bowl Langkawi is poised to grow as a dynamic and influential community center in Langkawi, and perhaps one day, throughout the nation.
